One of the pools at the Emirates Palace. In the UAE, pools have chillers, not heaters, and you're just as bummed if the chillers aren't working as you are in the States if the heater's not on. The chillers in the pool were perfectly set (of course). When I got out of the pool, I forgot for a second that it was 110 outside. While in the pool, it was cool, not freezing.

K's toes in the Persian Gulf and me standing on the shore. As mentioned previously, the Gulf is pristine...a lovely, clear turquoise-y blue. You would have no idea by looking at its (very) warm, shallow waters that it touched war and/or massive oil drilling on all sides.
